Hisi Nampeyo
Crimson Skies

As one of the youngest and
most talent Hopi pottery artists of today, Hisi Nampeyo has really
made a name for herself.
She is the daughter of world-famous
Hopi potter Dextra Quotskuyva and has obviously inherited some
of the family skill. Her work ranges from the unique and distinct,
to classic Hopi themes with traditional motifs like the stylized
moths pictured here.
Her work can be found in some
of the most prestigious galleries and discriminating private
collections.
We're pleased to present this
beautiful high-polish seed pot. The bright red finish provides
a sharp contrast against the native clay. Subtle orange fire
clouds compliment the four moth designs, and are indicative of
a traditional, outdoor, sheep-dung firing process. These fire
clouds give a nice, natural character to the pot.
She has signed "Hisi
Nampeyo," and has dated the pottery June of 2004. It's fresh
from the fire!
